CM12.1 Lollipop 5.1.1 Custom ROM for Xperia M C1904

Xperia M smartphone was released by Song in last year to target the mid-range Android market and this phone didn’t disappoint the Japanese giant. However, just like most of the mid-range devices, Sony has no plan for rolling Lollipop update for same device despite its popularity.

Luckily Android developers have created CM12.1 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM for Xperia M C1904 that can be used as daily ROM because it is almost stable. In this tutorial, we will go through the steps that are involved in installation of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM on Xperia M C1904 smartphone.

Please note that hat this custom ROM is only for Xperia M C1904 and don’t try it on any other device otherwise you might brick your device.

Safety Guidelines

  • Make sure your Xperia M C1904 is fully charged and is in good mood.
  • Ensure that you have complete backup of all your important data.
  • Make sure USB debugging is enabled on your smartphone.

How to Install CM12.1 Android 5.1.1 Custom ROM on Xperia M C1904

Step 1: Download the custom ROM and GAPPS. Once downloading is completed, place the zip files on your desktop.

Step 2: Connect your Xperia M C1904 to your computer and transfer the download zip files to your phone SD card.

Step 3: Turn Off your phone and boot it to recovery mode.

Step 4: In recovery mode, first tap on “wipe data factory reset” option to perform a factory reset. Once this is completed, go to advanced options and select “wipe the cache” followed by “dalvik cache” options to clear the cache.

Step 5: Go back to main recovery menu and select “Install zip from sd card” followed by “choose zip from SD card” and select the ROM zip file you have transferred to SD card in Step 1. Once ROM flashing is completed, repeat the same step for GAPPS.

Congrats! You should now have CM12.1 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop ROM installed on your Xperia M C1904.

    I love everything about cm12.1 but one major problem is that the camera app provided by CyanogenMod which is not good enough. Can you just Change it to xperia m original camera an the next update.

    For this do I have to unlock my bootloader though my rooting status for that is showed me yes?
