Our step by step guide will help you update Galaxy Tab S 8.4 to Android 5.0 Lollipop using CM12 Custom ROM. In this tutorial, you will find all the details required to install the said ROM along with some other safety tips like data backup etc. Also in order to flash the custom ROM on your Galaxy Tab S 8.4, you need to root your tablet and also unlock its bootloader.

How to Install CM12 (Stable) Android 5 Lollipop on Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (WiFi)

Step 1: Download the custom ROM and GAPPS. For easy browsing, place both the downloaded zip files on desktop of your Computer.

Step 2: Connect your Galaxy Tab S 8.4 to your computer to transfer the download zip files to your tablet SD card. [Make sure latest Samsung drivers are installed, otherwise your PC won’t recognize your phone]

Step 3: Turn Off your tablet and boot it to recovery mode. For that, press and hold “Volume Up + Volume Down + Power” buttons simultaneously until you see boot menu. [You can’t use touch in recovery mode, so use Volume Up and Down buttons for navigation and Power button for selection]

Step 4: In recovery mode, first tap on “wipe data factory reset” option to perform a factory reset. Once this is completed, go to advanced options and select “wipe the cache” followed by “dalvik cache” options to clear the cache.

Step 5: Go back to main recovery menu and select “Install zip from sd card” followed by “choose zip from SD card” and select the ROM zip file you have transferred to SD card in Step 1.

Step 6: Repeat the above step for Google Apps (GAPPS) installation.

Step 7: Once the installation is completed, go back to main recovery menu by selecting “+++++Go Back+++++” option  and reboot your phone by choosing “reboot system now” option from main menu. For the first time, your phone might take little more time than it usually takes, so don’t be panic as it is normal and will be only for 1st time.

That’s it. Now your Galaxy Tab S 8.4 should be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop, thanks to CyanogenMod custom ROM.
