This post cover steps by step tutorial to update Galaxy Grand 2 G7102 to Android 5.1 Lollipop by using CM12.1 custom ROM.
For those who don’t know, Cyanogen Mod ROMs are famous for their speed, clean user interface and great battery performance. CM12.1 is based on Stock Android 5.1 which give you same experience one get on Nexus lineup along with some additional features and apps. So if you are ready to install CM12.1 Android 5.1 ROM on your Galaxy Grand 2 G7102, then follow the steps below.
- Your Galaxy Grand 2 G7102 should be at least 79% charged.
- Please make complete backup of all your important data.
- Make sure USB debugging is enabled on your smartphone.
How to Update Galaxy Grand 2 G7102 to Android 5.1 Lollipop with CM12.1
Step 1: First of all, as usual, download the custom ROM and GAPPS.
Step 2: Once done with downloading, connect your Galaxy Grand 2 G7102 to your computer and transfer both the download zip files to your phone SD card.
Step 3: Turn Off your phone and boot it to recovery mode.
Step 4: In recovery mode, first tap on “wipe data factory reset” option to perform a factory reset. Once this is completed, go to advanced options and select “wipe the cache” followed by “dalvik cache” options to clear the cache.
Step 5: Go back to main recovery menu and select “Install zip from sd card” followed by “choose zip from SD card” and select the ROM zip file you have transferred to SD card in Step 1. Once ROM flashing is completed, repeat the same step for GAPPS.
Once the installation is completed, go back to main recovery menu and reboot your phone. For the first time, your Grand 2 might take longer than normal time but don’t worry as it will be only for the first time.
Now you should be holding Galaxy Grand 2 G7102 running on latest Android 5.1 Lollipop custom ROM, thanks to Cyanogen Mod 12.1.
