Xperia M2 and M2 Dual users rejoice as your phone has got a new update making the firmware to 18.3.1.A.1.9 & 18.3.1.A.1.10 respectively. This post covers instructions to download official stock firmware for Xperia M2 and M2 dual to manually update using Flashtool.
The new firmwares 18.3.1.A.1.9 & 18.3.1.A.1.10 seems to be based on Android 4.4 KitKat and fixes the bugs found in earlier firmwares. If you are ready to update, follow the tutorial below:
- First of all ensure that you have Xperia M2/M2 Dual phone Drivers installed on your computer.
- Your Xperia M2/M2 Dual Tablet should be unlocked.
- Make sure the battery is at least 90% charged.
- You need to have Flashtool installed on your computer. If not, follow –> Install Sony Flashtool in Windows

How to Update Xperia M2, M2 Dual to 18.3.1.A.1.9 & 18.3.1.A.1.10 Official Stock Firmwares .ftf
Step 1: Open the Flashtool.exe and click on “Devices” and then click on “Check for updates”.
Step 2: Check the update for Xperia M2, M2 Dual and start downloading it. When downloading is completed, click on “Create” and flashtool will start preparing firmware for your Xperia M2 phone. When it is done, click on lightening icon at top left of of window.
Step 3: Select Flashmode and then choose the .ftf file you have just placed there.
Step 4: Look at right side window and select wipe data, apps log, cache etc (I recommend wipe all).
Step 5: Click on ok so the Flashtool start preparing the 18.3.1.A.1.9 or 18.3.1.A.1.10 .ftf firmware for flashing which will take few seconds.
Step 6: Once it is done, you will be asked to connect your phone to your computer. Also you will be shown the instructions on how to connect your phone like turning it off and then pressing Volume Down button followed by connecting it to computer using USB cable.
Step 7: Once your phone is detected, flashtool will start flashing Android .ftf Stock firmware on your Xperia M2, M2 Dual phone.
When flashing is completed, your phone will reboot. Now your phone will be on latest firmware and if it isn’t, let us know.
