Earlier we have reported that Sony is working on new Lollipop firmware for Xperia Z2 D6503 and today the news has just been confirmed officially by Sony. The Japanese giant has released Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware with build 23.1.A.1.28 for Xperia Z2 D6503 smartphone.
As usual, the update will roll out via OTA and will be made available in phases, however, if you haven’t yet received the update then no need to worry. We will guide you to download 23.1.A.1.28 Lollipop firmware FTF for your Xperia Z2 D6503 and update to it manually using Flashtool utility.
- Your Xperia Z2 D6503 should be unlocked.
- Make sure the battery is at least 85% charged.
- You need to have Flashtool installed on your computer. If not, follow –> Install Sony Flashtool in Windows

Guide to Update Xperia Z2 D6503 to Android 5.0.2 Stock Firmware 23.1.A.1.28 .FTF
Step 1: When you are finished with firmware downloading, place the 23.1.A.1.28.ftf file in the Firmware sub-folder in Flashtool folder.
Step 2: Open the Flashtool.exe and click on the lightening icon at top left.
Step 3: Select Flashmode and then choose the .ftf file you have just placed there.
Step 4: Look at right side window and select wipe data, apps log, cache etc (I recommend wipe all).
Step 5: Click on ok so the Flashtool start preparing the 23.1.A.1.28.ftf firmware for flashing which will take few seconds.
Step 6: Once it is done, you will be asked to connect your Xperia Z2 D6503 to your computer. Also you will be shown the instructions on how to connect your phone like turning it off and then pressing Volume Down button followed by connecting it to computer using USB cable.
Step 7: Once your phone is detected, flashtool will start flashing Android 5.0.2 23.1.A.1.28.ftf Stock firmware on your Xperia Z2 D6503.
After everything is done, verify the latest firmware from Settings –> About phone to check if it has installed or not. If it has, then congratulations.
