Updated AT&T Galaxy S5 SM-G900A with Rooted Lollipop Firmware and Enable Tethering

Honestly speaking, Samsung takes a lot of time to release official firmware updates for their smartphones, even their flagships. When it comes to smartphones specifically made for US networks, users sometimes wait for months for the official firmware update from Korean giant. At the moment, AT&T and Samsung are rolling out official Android 5.0 Lollipop update for AT&T Galaxy S5 SM-G900A smartphone and the support page for said device is already updated.

  • First and most important thing is to have backup of all your data. We highly recommend all our readers to backup all their important data before proceeding with tutorial.
  • Make sure you have properly installed your phone USB drivers on your computer.
  • Make sure your AT&T Galaxy S5 SM-G900A is already rooted.
  • Enable the USB Debugging Mode from Settings –> Developer Options.
  • Last but not least, make sure the battery is fully charged before you proceed.

Steps to Update AT&T Galaxy S5 SM-G900A with Rooted Android 5.0 Lollipop Firmware

Step 1: First of all download the required files. After download, extract the .rar file to get firmware with .tar extension.

Step 2: Connect your device to your computer and transfer the G900_OC4_Stock_Rooted_Firmware.tar.md5 and G900A_OC4_Stock_Partitions_wOA1_BL.zip to your phone.

Step 3: Also transfer the Fireflash and install it on your mobile. Once done, open that app and tap on “Agree” to terms and conditions.

Step 4: Tap the rounder “+” two times to open the “Actions” menu.

Step 5: Select option “Flash firmware package” and select “G900A_OC4_Stock_Rooted_Firmware.tar.md5″. File scanning process might take few minutes.

Step 6: When done with scanning, make sure “Boot” and “System” options are selected and then tap on “OK”.

Step 7: Again tap on “+” icon followed by “Flash Zip or OTA” and select “G900A_OC4_Stock_Partitions_wOA1_BL.zip”.

Step 8: Before you go to next step, check that the “Auto-mount” option is unchecked under options menu.

Step 9: Tap the “+” to bring the actions menu and select “Wipe”.

Step 10: Under Options, select all partitions except the internal storage and proceed by pressing the checkmark.

Step 11: In main menu, re-arrange the “Actions” in below order. For that, tap and hold option to drag or arrange that.

  • Wipe
  • Flash firmware package
  • Flash ZIP or OTA

Step 12: Keep the EverRoot and Reboot settings default.

Step 13: When you have double-checked everything, tap on the “Lightning bolt” icon to start the installation process.

Once the firmware is installed, you will notice that your phone is updated to Android Lollipop while the root is also kept. Now in order to install the Wifi Tethering feature on your rooted AT&T Galaxy S5 SM-G900A , few some more steps below:

Step 1: Connect your phone to your computer and transfer the Mobile Hotspot Mod file to your phone.

Step 2: Launch the Fireflash app and tap on “+” to bring options menu and select “Flash Zip or OTA”.

Step 3: Browse for G900A_OC_TetherAddon.zip and select it.

Step 4: Make sure the “Auto-mount” option is unchecked and also leave the default settings of EverRoot and Reboot options .

Step 5: Finally when done with everything, tap the “Lightning bolt” icon and then tap on “OK” to start flashing process.
